Oh, but there is a conspiracy. You just haven't dug out your microchip implant yet so they're still controlling your brain. They insert them, you know, through the thumbstick on the xbox controller. I recommend using an ice pick to dig it out. Then you'll be freeeeeeeeeeeee and you'll know the truth: Everything Microsoft does is a conspiracy. Yeah, yeah, hahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!
Either Microsoftie or the retailers dropped 'my' the ball here. If retailers were told how many units they would get and allowed more preorders than scratch on them. If Softie shortened their available stock than smack them. For a console I don't see a reason to shorten supply intentionally. There is so much lead up to the console that hype is already on the unit. No need to add to that and drop a load on your most loyal consumers. But not producing enough to supply launch day is just stupid. You're going to make 50 million units over the next 5 years so ramp it up butt monkey. The hype is not going to influence the fanboys and no way is a Holiday hype going to get new buyers to jump in at $500.
I agree that it is not a conspiracy to raise demand, but the Xbox marketing team is F*#king me over. Just between the 1-every-ten-minutes, and the consoles that are gauranteed to be available for those at the launch day party, there are 10,000 units not being distributed to retailers. Let alone the Hollywood types like Paris that are strutting around with their 360's already.
I don't want to be a griefer, and understand that MS could not have manufactuered a quality console for every person interested in buying one on launch day, but I can't help feeling shafted that I threw down my $400 three months early in support of the 360, and have to wait.
The 2130 Clan is a casual group of older gamers comprised of friends, family and those closely removed. We mostly play on Xbox Live, some play WOW. We believe online gaming is most enjoyable when played with honor and sportsmanship.
