So Timo and I spent the night in front of Toys R Us in Ventura to get our consoles. We took off from Tim's house at about 10 pm to see if there was a line at Target, and sure enough a good 20 people were camped already. So after striking out at WalMart, Best Buy and Fry's, we found a nice small group in front of Toys R Us. We hung out with them from 11:45 pm to 9:00 am this morning. Timo got the last Premium system so I had to get a Core. Let's be clear: For the purpose of launch day, the Core system is a hassel. I had to buy all the accessories from multiple stores and I still don't have a hard drive, which means no backwards compatibility. However, it was still worth it. The system rocks, especially on my new 32" LCD TV. It's nice to see some updates to the gamer cards. Hope you all can get a hold of a 360 soon.
Our home away from home at approx. 6:30 am.

The "not so" Core system, accessories and phat new TV.

New vs. old: There's just no comparison.

Did you get some gamertags from the R Us campers?
Nice looking 32" TV Free. Besides the hard drive and the wired controllers is there any other difference in the Core to the Premium?
Great set up Free. I hope to see it up close this weekend. Are you guys going to see the light of day this weekend?
I'm also looking forward to your game reviews soon.
Besides the lack of a hard drive, and the attachment of a permanent wire to the controller, the Core system also neglects to include the headset, HD cables and remote control.
Game and system reviews would be great from everyone. Quickly, I think the box itself is very loud when the disc is running. I also don't like the position of the start button on the controller. The Guide button however, is stellar because it gets you to the Guide. I liked sending game invites with the Guide instead of in the game. I love the graphics on CoD2 and the co-op missions on PDZ have mucho potential. Couple more bummers: I couldn't stream music from my computer because it's a Mac. And I can play my iPod either because it uses a Firewire cable, not USB. And finally, the Sharp Aquos 32" of LCD love is simply magnificent.
Must sleep now.
The only gamer tag I was given was "glas" -- a good fellow.
Thanks for the updated information Free. I can't wait to see your set up at the casa de Free(glas?).
I also can't wait to play some co op and on Live. I just can't wait to get my system. No system is bad, very bad. I must get system soon.
I'm also curious what others have to say about the system overall. Timo?
Microsoft takes a $126 bath on each 360 sold? Is that true?
According to hardware cost estimates, they do. The same thing happened with Xbox 1 and Sony is prepared to take losses on the PS3 just so they can get Blu-ray players into people's hands. Strange business man.
