GRAW Review

The single player mission is intense, the graphics are amazing, the controls are complex, and your squad AI are as helpful as a bag of rocks. Right now I'm stuck trying to protect Mexico's Vice President from the bad guys attempting to order my guys to RPG a tank, while simultaneously trying to tell a chopper where to fire. I'll let you all figure this out on your own.

Arrested and I have had the chance to kick around a bit in multi-player and it's looking good, real good. Great maps. Cool use of the stealth hover saucer. Great weapons. Swarms of bad guys. Yeah no jumping and you can't even lean around a corner, but the action is intense. The idea of 16 of us sneaking around with sniper rifles, machine guns, and grenade launchers promises to make some memorable evenings. Did I say the maps were HUGE? I'll step out and say that for those of us that continue to get out "twitched" at Halo, GRAW may be the new favorite. At least until Halo 3 hits the shelf...

Tenlin and I just got back from Mammoth yesterday and had our first foray into mulitplayer with Termas and Arrstd. We played slpit screen and still had a blast. Co-op missions are so much fun, and challenging.

Besides the graphics, GRAW has some really nice improvements over Summit Strike. I really like the ability to set waypoints, call for help, and control the drone. They've also improved the interaction with the environment a lot, including the ability to blowup vehicles -- and anyone who might be taking cover behind them.

Shark, why did you go with Burnout? Can you give us a review? We could have used your help last night. : )

I have enjoyed my first hours with GRAW. I agree with Rich, that your AI teammates are only good as tagets for enemy fire, but they have improved the command interface quite a bit. I was sending in a bradley for fire support, targeting vehicles for helfire attacks with an Appache, and sniping through walls all in the same encounter. The AI is tough, and you need to use the cover features, which remind me of PDZ. I have not tried the multiplayer, but am really wanting to go through the Co-Op over live missions. Let me know when you have a free night, and I will do my best to join you.

Well, I went with burnout because I was 100% guaranteed to like it...whereas I was still waiting on the review from my fellow clan mates.

Burnout Revenge for the 360 is an excellent game. I suggest the Xbox live modes of play -- you'll find me out racing most of the time. If you have one of the previous burnout games, you won't be too "wowed!" by this one, other than the incredible sound and graphics. It is the same ol, trusty Burnout which is why it continues to be one of the most fun games ever.

It sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun with GRAW. I'll see if I can jiggle the piggy bank to pick it up if it is still the clan game of choice in a couple weeks.

For now, Tuesday night Halo bitches. :) And my internet connection is finally fixed.
