The second rumor comes from 1UP and their Halo 3 campaign impressions writeup. In their article, they mention that while watching the demo they saw a menu option called "Forge" and when they asked Bungie about it, they received no comment. Well, any good Marathon fanboy would know that Bungie used a program also called Forge to create levels in their Marathon series. So, does this Halo 3 Forge menu option confirm some type of multiplayer map customization? Possibly. What we do know is that some of these rumors could be cleared up in the September issue of EGM which will include brand new Halo 3 details.Come on Bungie. You've got the file sharing feature in place. Let's keep H3 interesting for a long time by making map editing a reality. Arm, when you get back, please email your buddy Frankie and tell him the 2130 would like a map editor.

I'm on it Free. What a gig it would be to have a map editor. Things are looking good. Wish I was going to Comic Con this year. Skulk told me that Eric Nylund will be attending a Q&A among others in the Halo Universe. Perhaps a curious Joe could get some Editor questions answered. No one can resist the 2130. I'll drop Frankie a line.
Nice Free
I emailed him.

Joystiq: Forge? (This is a menu item we spied during the demonstration)
Frankie: (Smiles) It's just a text string, it could be anything. But there's gonna be some stuff you'll read about in the next couple of weeks when some embargoes are lifted on some press stuff that should clarify the whole thing.
