Thanks for the information to Joystiq announcing and discussing the director choice. I watched some of the videos/commercials/shorts and liked what I saw. The Gravity Gun scenes were flawless and the robots shown in all of those were insanely clean.
Being a fanboy of Halo I know I will get into a movie, but the difference in this game being a movie is that Halo has a plot and a great story to tell. The fact that it is not finished makes it more open for critics to say it is another video game turning into a shitty movie. I really like the story and believe if at least the franchise is doing their best to make a great movie from a great base.
The video clips on Joystiq are worth looking at.

I've been really happy with what Bungie has done so far. I gotta think it is only going to get better. After seeing these clips I am more excited about the movie now.

I'm with you Arm. I really enjoyed what he did in those clips. In that one, you could easily replace those huge flying saucers with Covenant Ships invading Earth. His style reminds me of Cops a little bit, but I think that's a good thing, especially with a video game movie. By filming it in a reality TV style, it'll only make the universe seem that much more real. The CGI integration was flawless too. I'm also stoked this guy is pretty much a no-name. That means he'll have less pressure on him to live up to some pre-existing reputation or whatever. Instead, he can just go for it like PJ did with Lord of the Rings. Great choice PJ and Bungie!

Free, that Cops look also reminded me of the way GRAW plays in the streets and the helicopter shots. The robot in Tempbot was really good too. I liked that Lynda Carter (wonder woman) was in that one.
Having a no name guy spells Peter Jackson all the way. And they are filming in NZ. Nice call. Could be great but I'm thinking it won't be bad. We have to have a big group at the theater with 2130.

I think he is a great choice, and I enjoyed the clips that you linked to. My biggest concern is the writing. The Halo novels give a key example. A great writer such as Eric Nylund took the Halo universe and made it come to life. The author who wrote the flood -- who had more of the Halo world ready and waiting -- told a very lack-luster story and to book was crap. We could have Great direction and CGI, but if the story sucks, what hope does the movie have? It will be just another crap movie made from a video game IP.

Bungie has yet to let me down, so I'm very worried that the movie will be garbage. I wish we did not have to wait so long.

Timo, the movie has Bungie all over it. From the technical specs of all the characters and creatures and eye appeal of the game to what I think will be the script that Bungie had to approve. I hope that script will also have Bungie watching over it for changes that are made. As long as they have a say I think it will hold up. Bungie has had their shit together so far and I think this movie(my next Star Wars) means enough to their franchise that they want to keep it amazing. Line up.
