Comic Con 2008 - AKA Meat Truck
Free drove down to The OC Wednesday evening and found Jack, Ellie & I jamming some Rock Band. After a mini session with Free & Jack we hit the pillow with sweet dreams of The Con in our heads. Woke up Thursday early to Free producing his own Infomercial. Free should be producing full time. What a crack up. Packed up and headed south for the 619. Hit Camp Pendleton around 7:30 AM and saw it. A wall of ruby red brake lights. Like hitting a team of four 50's/Generals on multi-flag. Ouch. 3 hours to go 4.8 miles due to a meat truck from Vons that had crashed and caught fire. At Pendleton you have no way to turn around. Once on that land you have no way to turn north and find another way. We had planned to open The Con at 10 am but found ourselves going through the doors around noon.

The SciFi Channel booth is perty.
Immediately Free & I recognized Starship Troopers 3 and these terrible cosplayers. Terrible or not it was a slice of Starship Troopers and Johnny Rico. A tip of the hat to Timo here.

Who does not want to play Lego Batman this year?
Free, Jack and I had a few 'must' for our trip. We wanted to get to the McFarlane booth to see about some sweet H3 Comic Con exclusive figurines of the Chief in some original armor. Also wanted to see Olivia Munn from G4. She is Munnilicious. Also wanted to see Jessica Chobot from IGN(you can see her on the Live updates). She is a gamer and delicious for all gamers. We also wanted to see the Halo Panel with Frank O'Connor, Joe Staten, Eric Nylund and also one of the creators of Halo Wars. After our traffic nightmare would the 2130 karma take over?
Chobot. Check her off the list as complete. Awesome. And she has her figurine that a company was showing her while we were there at the 360 booth. Believe it was her first time seeing the figure.

Chobot & Armleg - Karma showing.

Free the best game tester at The Con

Lil Armleg having a Trek moment for all the 2130.

Jabba lives.

Spartans never die.

Pirates & cosplay

WOW for Timo. There were some seriously awesome displays.

Weta in New Zealand has some unbelievable work at the show.

Mcfarlane booth was one of my favorites. Guy named Jon Goff is the lead in marketing for the Halo figures and he was super cool to give Free & I two cards with codes for the exclusive MC figures. They had given out the 1000 already for the day and we told him about our traffic delays etc. He like my Halo Finish The Fight shirt and we talked multiplayer etc. He is a big fan of the Halo world. Cool.

Here is Free heading into the Halo Panel. Clearly a Halo Panel pose.

The Panel & Display. Not sure how many seats but they were all full.

The panel also included the author of the new Halo novel coming out called the Cole Protocol.

Joe Staten & Frankie. Got their autographs and talked to them a bit.

Free got so comfortable in our conversation he did something he has been wanting to do for sometime...sorry Frankie.

Karma showed again as we didn't get a picture with Joe Staten of Bungie while at the panel. We were rolling through the show and spotted Joe walking around looking at toys for his two kids he could take back to them. Joe was a super cool guy and chatted with us for sometime about the Halo world. Awesome.

Lil Armleg getting his Lego on. Nice set ups at the show for little 2130's. Free got in a demo across the aisle. Free is the best game tester around.

We headed to the G4 booth and they were doing the show live. Kevin Periara(sp?) and Olivia Munn working hard. With some Commander Riker "number one" watching in a scary funny way.

Karma came now in the form of toast. They had a toaster going and began throwing toast to the crowd watching. Olivia saw Jack who I had put on my shoulders and went out of her way to go behind the camera's and through the crowd handed Jack a piece of toast. She was totally cool to do that. Lil Armleg is the best.

Can anyone name this dude? We thought he looked cool.

Karma would again surface as the case of Star Trek was over by us while we ate some dinner. Free said his Dad would dig a shot of him with the crew of the Enterprise. Make it so.

Until next year Con. Hope next year we can bring a few more 2130's and go Karma cashing again.

Free captured some excellent video and here he is capturing.

Lil Armleg your energy was amazing and it was most excellent having you get that toast.
