Hardware Check

Major Nelson posted a link to a podcast that Geek Speak Radio hosted with Jim Barber, the cat that runs the Xbox Live Hardware Certification Program. It is very interesting, and lists some tools for checking our your existing network, and how it gets along with Live. He also goes on to describe some new Wireless technology on the horizon.

I encourage everyone to check into your network, so we can get rid of as much lag as possible.

Looks there are some very nice improvements to the way Live is going to function with the coming of the 360. By the way, EB Games is now sold out of their pre-order 360 bundles. Do you think they'll go for a premium on Ebay?

Thanksgiving Doesn't Stand a Chance

Two days before T-day. I'm hoping most, if not all of the Clan will be online for what could be an amazing holiday weekend of gaming. Lets pick a new 360 title or two and hunker down for some serious online action. Be sure to caffinate while you wolf down that Turkey. We don't want that triptophane to cut into your online presence.

Here's a summary of the announcements at the Microsoft pre-show press conference. There should be a lot more details tomorrow after their official Tokyo Game Show presentation.

As you can see, I was able to sneak inside one of the factories and check out all of our boxes being made. This guy was nice enough to let me burn each of our names on them with a laser beam. So, what game will we be getting with this puppy?

How to Increase Your Ranking and Keep It

I decided to check these guys out, after Major Nelson said that he co-hosted their podcast. They are not nearly as polished or concise as Major Nelson's podcast, but over the 1+ hours of mostly nonsense, they did throw out some good tips. Such as throwing a grenade at the top of a doorway when someone is following you, and describing the location of a vulnerable spot on the ghost that will cause it to explode with one BR burst or one shot from the sniper rifle. They also when on at length about the pros and cons of close combat with the sword vs. shotgun. If you need something to listen to while you work, you might enjoy it.

Greetings from Zanzibar

Pics from the Labor Day Longboard LANfest are slowly starting to creep in. Here's one taken on the beach at Zanzibar (aka La Conchita). From L to R we have BraindeadWolf, Scott (Armleg's friend from the OC), Tenlin, Free420, ARRSTDVLPMNT, Timo9000, Armleg and SleepyCoyote. And that's not a modified Ghost in the background, it's Timo's outrigger canoe.

We had beautiful weather and some fun waves this day. Turns out Armleg's children are quite the anglers. His son Jack caught a nice corbina and his daughter Ellie landed a baby perch. What a great dad. But later that night, the real Armleg showed himself.

Our newest clan member, Zane Patrick Hill was born on September 6th, at 11:15. His specs were, 21 inches in length and weighing 8 lbs 10 oz.
